What we collect
Your WhatsApp number and display name; the messages and photos you send to Tara AI Studio; for a reel, the link you send and a copy of that public reel; the pictures, videos and storybooks we make for you; and payment references from Razorpay. We never see your card or UPI details; Razorpay processes them.
Why we collect it
To make what you asked for, to deliver it on WhatsApp or the website, to take payment, to answer support requests, and to keep the service safe. We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use your photos to train models.
Who processes it for us
- Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform) carries the messages. For a reel we fetch the public reel you linked from Instagram, which is also Meta's.
- fal.ai and Google Cloud (Vertex AI) generate and edit pictures and video; a photo is sent only to make the order you placed. When fal.ai is unavailable, or a paid order has to be made again, OpenRouter or Higgsfield may do the same work, under the same rule. fal.ai also holds our copies of your photos and of what we make, and deletes them on the schedule below. OpenRouter may receive a photo for the free avatar when fal.ai is unavailable; Higgsfield receives photos only for a reel order you have paid for. Both keep what they received under their own policies.
- Higgsfield makes reels: for a reel order it receives the photos you sent for it (up to eight) and the stretch of the reel you chose, nothing else, and only after you have paid.
- Google (Gemini, on Google Cloud) reads your messages and voice notes so Tara can understand the request. It also looks at each photo you send, to check that it shows a face and nothing unsafe before anything is made from it, and whether the face is a child's; for a storybook it also estimates the child's age, so the book draws the child at the right size and offers the stories written for that age. For a reel it looks at a few frames of the reel to check what it shows (whether anyone is in it, how many people it is about, how they are dressed, and whether it is fit for a child's photo) before we quote a price; nothing is refused for what it shows, but the price tells you when the AI model may refuse it. It answers with a few words or numbers; those answers are all we keep from it. For stickers it also looks at the avatar we made, to choose the words that fit the pack.
- OpenAI is a fallback: if Gemini is unavailable, OpenAI may do the same work under the same rules: read your text, do the one-word check on a photo you send (a child's photo included) and estimate a child's age. If neither can look at a child's photo, Tara asks you to send it again a minute later.
- Razorpay processes payments. Railway hosts the service and database.
Children's photos: storybooks and reels
A storybook, or a reel with a child in it, is ordered by the child's parent or guardian. The child's photo is used only to make that order.
For a storybook, the child's photo is looked at by Google (Gemini), or by OpenAI when Gemini is unavailable, as described above, and sent to the picture services listed above to draw the child's avatar. We hold the photo only until you approve the avatar; then we delete our copy, and every page of the book is drawn from the approved avatar, never from the photo. What the order keeps is the name you gave us for the child, the age, whether the story says "she" or "he", the language and the pictures we made. We never ask for a date of birth, a school or where the child lives.
For a reel, before you pay, the picture model also makes your "reel profile" from the photos you sent (a clean portrait, and a full-length picture when you sent one): it is shown to you, you can have it made again once or send new photos; the reel model works from the photos you sent, not from the profile. For a reel, a child's photo is never put into a reel with sexually suggestive dancing or posing in it; for such a reel Tara asks for a grown-up's photo instead. The photos of a reel order are held for the order and go with it on the schedule below.
If you came from one of our ads
When you tap one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram, Meta creates an identifier for that tap and passes it to us with your first message. If that is how you found us, we report up to two events back to Meta: that you sent a photo, and, if you pay, that you paid, how much and in which currency. Each carries the time it happened and a reference number, so that nothing is counted twice.
This is how we learn which ads reach people who want what we make, so we can stop paying for the ones that do not. Meta also uses these events to decide who to show our ads to, including people who resemble those who paid.
With each event we send a scrambled version of your WhatsApp number: not the number itself, but a fixed code made from it. This is not anonymous: Meta can match that code against numbers it already holds, which is why we send it, so an event still reaches the right ad when Meta's own identifier has expired. We also send a code made from a row number in our own database, so Meta can tell that the person who sent a photo and the person who paid are the same; it is not your number, your name or anything you told us.
We also give Meta a scrambled version of the numbers of people who bought from us, or were quoted a price, so its ads can look for people like them; the number itself, your name, your photos, the pictures we make and anything you write to Tara never go to Meta. If you did not arrive from an ad, we report none of them about you. WhatsApp itself belongs to Meta, so your messages travel through Meta's platform either way; this section is only about the events we choose to report. To stop it, ask us to delete your data (see Your choices): the ad identifier we hold goes, and nothing more is reported. Meta handles what it already received under its own policy.
How long we keep it
A child's photo for a storybook is deleted as soon as you approve the avatar made from it (see above). Every other photo you send, the avatar made from it, the copy of a reel you linked and the pictures and videos we made for you are deleted from our storage 30 days after your last order, by a sweep that runs every night; an order's record keeps its counts and what it cost us, not its pictures. The reel engine and the fallback picture service keep what an order sent them under their own policies. The words of a chat are blanked 30 days after they were written; the record of a turn (when, in which language, which model answered) stays for our accounts. Payment references are kept for as long as accounting and tax law require.
Your choices

AI-generated content
Every picture and video we make is generated by artificial intelligence and carries the Tara AI Studio mark. Tara, the assistant you chat with, is an AI.
